In the Big Ten area we're supposed to have MSU/Wisc on our local  ABC interact and Miami/VaTech on ESPN alter now but they have the ESPN cater blacked out.  If you look at the Uverse programming guide it even says that there's two games at this measure and the game you ordain get on ESPN depends on which game your local ABC interact chooses. This is what the ESPN alter channels are there for (610-613) when ESPN has multiple feeds available and none of them are blacked out legally in your area. I called the 2020 number and the level 1 and 2 techs looked at the information that is available and agreed the problem is with the feeds and not with my equipment (Fantastic job so far Mike and Jose).  Now it is up to the NOC to get it right (I'm due a call-back shortly). 48)?48:this scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;">Coming soon to a Uverse subscriber near you:Media Share - 1Q2008. The cable guys made a big mistake.

"Dereg Promises Bigger and Worse Power Blackouts in US" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 15:47:18

November 17. 2007 (LPAC)--The North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) recently released its 2007 Long-term Reliability Assessment report with alarming projections about the lagging of electrical capacity behind bespeak over the next decade. Peak demand ordain increase by almost 18% while committed resources will increase by only 8.5%--less than half of bespeak according to the inform. The main consequences of this lack of investment in power infrastructure ordain show up during peak demand--summer cooling in the U. S.--and will lead to converting a class of power assets termed 'reactive cater,' over to real power assets to be sold to supply demand. This is a dangerous practice because reactive cater is power supporting the voltages that must be controlled for system reliability. If reactive power is inadequate the grid can end down. "In 2003 one of the largest blackouts in U. S history change state down much of the northeast electrical grid and left 50 million populate in the dark. After months of investigative work by multiple entities and the FERC a conclusion was reached that insufficient reactive power was the culprit," according to industrialinfo com which analyzed the report for its readership on Nov. 16. Because reactive power is not sold on the market or to users during arrive at demand cater is likely to be diverted from reactive uses to salable electric power where the money is to be made. This leads to vulnerabilities in the grid. Much of this vulnerability as come up other negative consequences of an aging and inadequate grid can be laid directly at the door of recent decades of deregulation. As the NERC report stressed at several points rationally developing the grid to efficiently and safely give power to the user is a much longer process than bringing new power plants to completion--even nuclear plants--but especially natural gas plants which can come online in as little as 18 months. The new corporate model of quick-build quick-returns has left grid create by mental act development and grade out of its timetable. A rational electric grid cannot be successfully developed by the invisible hand of the fickle marketplace.

"Poll: How do you feel about NFLST Blackouts" posted by ~Ray

These exclusive offers go to us courtesy of our friends from and ! This is the best deal ANYWHERE on New DirecTV or cater Network Service! Also as a registered member you ordain also see much less advertising! Hey Duchen charper1- This is about NFLST not local affiliates importance. But I do undergo some thoughts on that too so if you want to go away a different go. I think it could be interesting discussion not that this hasn't come up before. It just needs updating take compassionate. I evaluate more of the accuse lies between the unify(s) the NAB and the FCC. The management/assignment DMAs and the control of said "markets" hardly go into the lap of DBS to negotiate "deals"; they simply enforce what they are told to do by law. As we all know the "book packages" are merely bulge packaged retransmissions of network affiliate local signals so they do kind of go hand-in-hand. I accept that DirecTV could hire a lobbyist to contend for changes in the laws; and I am sure they already /undergo/do. LG LSS-3200A. DirecTV HR20. Sanyo PLV-Z (106"). UltraVision 65x500. Yamaha RX-Z9 8.1ch. LG DVB-418. Sony DVP-NC675P. bring know CM4228. Sirius XTR1 (2) and XTR2 (2). Dlink 108mbps Network. ReplayTV 4508 (3). Fortec Lifetime Ulltra w/ 36" dish. ViaTalk VoIP I evaluate more of the accuse lies between the unify(s) the NAB and the FCC. The management/assignment DMAs and the hold back of said "markets" hardly go into the lap of DBS to discuss "deals"; they simply compel what they are told to do by law. As we all know the "ticket packages" are merely bulge packaged retransmissions of network affiliate local signals so they do kind of go hand-in-hand. I agree that DirecTV could contract a lobbyist to contend for changes in the laws; and I am sure they already /have/do. charper1- Do you experience this is a fact? That the FCC requires they rush or do not charge for NFLST when they color out a bet. My knowledge of this was the blackout was a contractural issue developed USING DMAs as a guideline between the networks their affiliates and in this case DirecTV as well. If this is so then YES D* would be able to negotiate a contract that permitted them to 1 furnish a pay for the bet they blacked out and exceed 2 absolve them from blackout on the basis that it is a paid to watch game. If it is as you suspect the blackout command for DirecTV or any dbs function would be published in the CFR's and I should do some homework on that. I really do see this as an issue where DirecTV is charging for a service and then not delivering it and offering no refund. I do not see it an obligation for DirecTV to beg the FCC IF this is a regulation they have to rush and offer no refunds for blackout. If you bought a PPV movie and paid for it then it was determined that your community had some regulation that forbid you to watch it ( as does some communities on adult programming)and they blacked it out. I'm certain you'd be on the telecommunicate requesting a refund change surface IF in the tiny tiny print it said this movie may be blacked out in your community due to adult movie standards regulations. Again my goal is that I would desire to see everyone who bought tickets to watch the games see it/ them and second if you were not permitted to see the game you bought tickets to at least D* would furnish you a refund for that. And third. I feel since this is a contract between D* and the NFL to air the games in a closed Paid viewing that DirecTV should discuss to alter blackouts exempt from the NFLST in the next assure. So far the only valid argument I have seen to act blackouts in displace for NFLST was from Mr Kennedy who claimed he was an owner. I guess he means aggroup owner or at least someone who has a huge vested arouse in the profitability of a team's stadium sales. From his perspective the more money he can alter the exceed it is for him. I can respect that but don't undergo to evaluate that without a negotiation for a better broach for the fans on DirecTV. Here's my "homework: It was later passed and is described here: The Sports Blackout Rule protects a sports team’s or unify’s exclusive distribution rights to a local sporting event. The sports blackout command applies only if a local TV broadcast displace is not carrying the local sporting event. If a local TV air displace does not undergo permission to carry the local bet then no other broadcaster’s communicate displaying the game can be shown in the protected local blackout zone. The rule applies to a air carrier’s retransmission of nationally distributed superstations and network stations. Id. The new rules bear on to both C-Band (large dish) and DBS (small cater) air service providers. understand the key point here is the NFL has control and the NFL is the one who triggers the permission or no permission. This is why the rule is applied differently in each community (that is another consider) But the FCC did rule in this decade that when the NFL forbids a local FREE TV station from carriage that no other station or DBS or C bind function may displace it either. I don't know how this allows certain sports bars to displace the bet unless the sports bar had some closed circuit service or they were using a hacked D* separate. So in conclusion to Charper1's point this regulation would prevent D* from the negotiation with the NFL but there was nothing open so far that makes the revenue charged by D* for NFLST games blacked out a non-refundable charge. At this point the FCC rule discovered would alter the poll discuss. ( I admit when I am do by) However not included in this survey is the question about DirecTV refunds for games they are required to black out. In cause this leaves the NFL out of it as far as the way NFLST is sold re blackouts. There would be no purpose in negotiation Since the survey serves no intend. I declare it be closed. Yes. I've never figured that out. I'm a Steelers fan. The two years that I had ST I would not get a game of theirs and then would find out it would be on at one of the bars down the road also using D*. What the heck is up with that? Correct the local affiliates in your area prefer that you check via their signal so you are forced to see the local ads. They claim that if you do not see those local ads you will not shop locally with those merchants! BS! If I watch a ST delivered game from 800 miles away. I disbelieve I ordain drive to a San Fran car dealer to buy a car furniture or whatever as opposed to buying them say within 20 - 30 mins away from my domiciliate. These guys bruise our common comprehend and it is a communicate they undergo gotten away with this BS for so long. I'm sorry but its a little deeper than that. Fox pays the nfl for the game your local displace pays fox for the game adver pay your displace preminum prices for air measure during the game because it is the only channel the game can be view on. Why would the local station.

"Warcrimes! Gazans battle blackouts as EU suspends fuel aid" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 12:39:11

Under the influence of politicians masses of people tend to evaluate the responsibility for wars to those who have power at any given time. In World War I it was the munitions industrialists; in World War II it was the psychopathic generals who were said to be guilty. This is passing the buck. The responsibility for wars falls solely upon the shoulders of these same masses of populate for they have all the necessary means to avert war in their own hands. In part by their apathy in move by their passivity and in move actively these same masses of people make possible the catastrophes under which they themselves suffer more than anyone else. To evince this guilt on the move of the masses of people to hold them solely responsible means to act them seriously. On the other hand to commiserate masses of people as victims means to treat them as small helpless children. The former is the attitude held by genuine freedom fighters; the latter that attitude held by power-thirsty politicians. (Wilhelm Reich. It is part of the command copy of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of worry. (General Douglas MacArthur. Speech. May 15. 1951) Gaza hummed with the appear of generators on a fourth day of power cuts on Monday as the European Union said it will not resume paying for fuel to run the impoverished territory's bushel cater plant unless it receives assurances Hamas ordain not benefit from the aid. Candles disappeared from supermarket shelves as the coastal strip's residents stocked up on supplies in one of the world's most densely populated places where the vast majority of populate depend on outside aid for survival. "Our life is becoming more and more difficult," said Umm Jaber a 40-year-old mother of six in Gaza City. "They've closed the borders they've cut jobs. Today they've cut the electricity tomorrow they'll cut the air for us." The cater cuts were the latest blow to hit the territory that has been effectively sealed off by Israel since the Islamist Hamas movement seized control two months ago sparking fears of a humanitarian crisis. They also marked the latest inform of contention between the Western-shunned Islamists and the Western-backed Palestinian government in the occupied West tip as each side blamed the other for the cuts. "Everything in my refrigerators is rotting," said Abu Mohammed a supermarket owner in Gaza City. "All of the ice cream stocks undergo been ruined. I'm losing a lot of money." The cater outages began late on Friday when Gaza's only cater plant -- which according to the EU provides between 25 and 30 percent of the territory's cater -- change state down all but one of its generators. It did so because its diesel supplies had dwindled after Israel shut the fuel adjoin crossing citing security concerns. Israel reopened the crossing on Sunday but diesel was not delivered because the EU -- which finances the supplies -- suspended payments out of "security concerns," forcing the lay to close completely. "In the meantime the European Commission received information indicating that steps were being taken by Hamas to divert part of the revenues deriving from the production of electricity in Gaza," said a European equip statement released in Jerusalem. "We are extremely concerned about this and are carefully verifying the situation," it said. "We are ready to resume our support to the Gaza per plant within hours once we receive the appropriate assurances that all the funds will be exclusively used for the benefit of the Gaza population." The EU is the largest donor to the Palestinians providing more than 400 million euros (539 million dollars) so far in 2007. The EU blacklists Hamas as a terror assort and refuses to have any dealings with the Islamists. If it provides fuel to a power lay and Hamas earns money by introducing taxes on that lay's production the bloc could be seen to be indirectly financing the movement. mention: Hamas also happens to be whom the Palestinian populate gave the majority choose in democratic elections. "We are create from raw material to bear on payment of these fuel deliveries within hours once we undergo assurances that these taxes will not be introduced," Mochan said. The power cuts undergo become a new source of tension between Hamas and president Mahmud Abbas's government in Ramallah. Abbas's office accused accused Hamas of pocketing the money collected for electricity bills in Gaza to fund its militias. "It's this situation that has pushed the European Union into halting its funding of furnish purchases," it said. But Hamas denied the charges and accused the Ramallah government -- which was appointed by Abbas in the change state of the Gaza takeover but which Hamas refuses to appreciate -- of lying. "The ministers of the (Salam) Fayyad government are carrying out a race of incitement with their lies saying that Hamas withholds money of the electricity.

GAZA CITY -- Blackouts plagued the Gaza take anew Monday as the European Union was reviewing whether to renew its financing of fuel deliveries for the impoverished territory's sole power plant.
