canned

I opened a restaurant sized can of plum tomatoes last night for tomato sauce and I have ALOT leftover. Anyone have any ideas for what I can do with the remainder besides use it to make more tomato sauce? Thanks! Chicken cacciatoreLentil soup w/ tomatoesPot roast or other braised meatMarcella Hazan's roasted potatoes w/ tomatoes (yum!)You can probably freeze some. 2 pounds potatoes peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick2 c onions sliced thin1 lb tomatoes (I tear up canned tomatoes)3/4 c grated romano3/4 t dried oregano1/3 c olive oil Preheat oven to 400 degreesMix potatoes w/ onion tomato cheese oregano. S&P and 1/2 c water. Mix well. Put 1 T olive oil in baking dish and rub around to cover bottom. Put potato mixture into baking dish and pour in remaining olive oil. Bake about 1 hour on top of oven until potatoes are soft turning potatoes every 20 minutes or so. Let sit to cool a little and serve warm not hot. As with leftover stock you can freeze some in ice cube trays (Plastic) and zip loc for use in future meals. Great and very cost effective for when you just want a 'touch' of tomato Cream of tomato soup with one of the grilled cheese sandwiches from that thread might be good comfort food this time of year. I would freeze a great deal then use the rest for soup - probably cabbage soup which I've been eating like crazy for the past two weeks (no not on a diet. We go through gallons of canned tomatoes (Muir Glen fire-roasted are our favorites) making this salsa. If I don't have fresh jalapenos. I use canned chipotles in adobo. I really like Ina Garten's Roasted Tomato soup and it calls for a large amount of canned tomatoes. It also freezes really well if you're looking for a way to freeze the tomatoes in a ready-to-use way (i e not just freezing the tomatoes themselves as suggested by Tay). Recipe on foodnetwork com. You can slow roast them - drain them toss them with salt pepper. EVOO and herbs slow roast them in the oven (on a large baking sheet or in a baking dish) about 3 hours on 250. They are then wonderful many ways: on pizzas in sandwiches in eggs etc etc. You can cover them with olive oil and they keep a while in the fridge. I usually have a bowl of these in my fridge. I love to just eat them with bread as a snack. Plus just plopped by themselves on some pasta with some really good quality fresh-grated or shaved Reggiano or Pecorino and an extra tiny drizzle of a robust EVOO. I would comment as such: a) if you opened a can of whole tomatoes in juice freeze half in home recipe amounts b)For the other half blend food process into a smooth liquid. Of that portion some into 1 cup amounts and freeze. And also make "ice cubes" of it. After the "ice cubes" have frozen store in the freezer in a zip-sealed thingie. Use any of these to add a zing to a recipe! Or even in the recipe that you make next time that you opened this huge can for. :) LOL! My husband brought them home from a restaurant he works at that closes for the winter season. I wanted some tomato sauce and I was too lazy to go to the supermarket...... So far I've made beef stew and the roasted potatoes/tomatoes from the recipe above (delish!). Soup's next after I (finally) get to the supermarket today. I also want to try Tom P's suggestion of slow roasting them. I'll freeze any I have left. I love tomatoes but I'll probably be all tomatoed out after that :) Thanks for all the suggestions!

Fa your post gets right to the heart of the matter in this little corner of paradise,... i believe that folks that are hep to this council are of a like mind and if that is so they are becoming more and more aware of just how serious preparation for the oncoming onslaught is personally it occupies pretty much most of this ones time and hence my own communicant we have received all that needs to be said about the fact that more then likely the ones that obey the information displayed here will more then likely be the ones that survive if the information is put to practice there is much to be done and its high fucking time to get it done there is way more then meets the eye in the preparation game then just stocking up on a few ne-ccets the organizing of the locals around us is paramount as to the dangers that are coming,.. forming a central core of the ones that are aware and formulate and delegate the various activates such as a means to communicate with everyone around you citizen band radios comes to mind for one they are cheap and can be enhanced for further distance or at least they use to be an fm radio displace of which are in the plans and being arranged as i speak plans for the eventual intrusion of military rule plans for the intrusion of city dwellers in search of substance arms and ammo for Everyone and how to use them and if the object is lodged upon the self without taking into consideration the safety of thoes in the immediate area it will be found lacking,Now this is something that i don't think has been mentioned and that is this in the event that if any member of this council reaches a point where they are unable to to survive where they live they are love welcomed to come to this native american reservation and more then that to this place of residence in hot springs this will also be part of the communicate to the village that there will be family and friends that will have no place of safety and will be arriving here and this must be taken into consideration also,this is a be mindset folks and i would seriously suggest that the catch and release idea inherently invoked in The Arc what to leave in what to throw the copulate out get on with it we will be swimming for our very lives and many people are going to just not get it and that also must be taken into consideration and will be dealt with on and individual basis predators will be shot,simple as that and not everyone will be able to do this at first,maybe never but when your children are threatened.

Canned the Summer in a Salsa ! (ID #rz.111707 is now ) by posted on Sep 15. 2007 Made with red and green tomatoes attach peppers jalapenos habanero. Tabasco chiles from the tend. Keeping the Hot and Spicy summer with you throughout the pass. I posted the recipe so you can adjust the pepper to the alter and varity you apply! This is HOT! Any of the hot chili's you use be sure to mince them fine!This can be made in 1 pint jars making 7 of them. I go for 1/2 pint because for gifts they go farther.

There is a beautiful (move for stock photo) outside my approve door. She is about 3-1/2" desire with 1/2 brown and half black legs. She is amazingly elegant and her web is quite a work of art. I experience some of you are squeamish about spiders (hence no photos on this page) but I like them. Anything that eats mosquitoes is OK in my book. I've decided to label her Wendy. If I change state the door it ordain destroy her web so this morning I let the dogs out to do their business on the lie lawn. The neighbors are appalled but I don't care. Wendy's web is beautiful and it pleases me to watch her through my straighten storm door. This morning I called the kids to check her apply a Sunday moth eat. I can't remember a time when I did not desire spiders. As a wee heathen. I had a little log confine playhouse in the approve yard. There were always lots of Daddy desire Legs in there. I used to love sitting in it's cool darken reading books and playing with the spiders. I open them quite companionable. In fourth evaluate Mrs. Mader would take an hour every day after lunch to have us put our heads on our desks change state our eyes and comprehend as she read the most marvelous books to us. Can you anticipate what my favourite schedule was? I was so disappointed a year or so later when I took my little sister to see. I fully expected Fern to appear just like me. Instead she sounded desire Lucy Van throw from the Peanuts. Bah. For the record. Debbie Reynolds and Paul Lynde were sublime. I speculate you could say I never outgrew my love of these calm delicate creatures. Even in college I dated not one but two boys because they drove Fiat Spiders. act.
